Schwere Melancholie zum dritten Gang: Bereits Seasons 2 war ein Doom‑Highlight – nun, ganz ohne Vorwarnung, tauchte auf den Streamingplattformen Seasons 3 des Quartetts aus Cincinnati, Ohio auf, das seit 2017 wunderbare, schwere Musik macht. Mit Seasons 3 erscheint ihr fünftes Release – nach zwei Jahren Pause mit nur drei Songs, die es sich anzuhören lohnt.

Nicht nur schwer, sondern auch bedeutungsschwer geht es bei Blessed Black zu. Song 1 „Beltane’s Pyre“ startet mit einfacher Melodie und kommt schleppend, hypnotisch daher. Der Song zum Erscheinungsdatum Beltane ist gut gewählt – Beltane ist das gälische Frühlingsfest in der Nacht zum 1. Mai. Ähnlich bedeutungsvoll geht es mit „Beacon“, einem der kompaktesten Songs, weiter, der wieder die Flamme in der Nacht zum Thema hat. Schwere Klangteppiche mit viel Melancholie werden gewebt. Schon der dritte Song „The Huntress“ ist der Rausschmeißer – im Midtempo wird eine mythologische Jägerin beschworen.

Wem das alles zu viel Bedeutung ist, kann sich auch einfach beim Zuhören der empfehlenswerten Musik entspannen.

Blessed Black sind leider eine der vielen Bands, die man in Deutschland nicht erleben kann – Hard and Live wünscht ihnen einen Vertrieb und Auftritte.

Heavy melancholy, third course:

Already Seasons 2 was a doom highlight — and now, without any warning, Seasons 3 suddenly appeared on the streaming platforms. The quartet from Cincinnati, Ohio, which has been creating wonderful, heavy music since 2017, returns after a two‑year break with its fifth release: three songs absolutely worth hearing.

Not only heavy, but heavy with meaning — that’s the world of Blessed Black. Track 1, “Beltane’s Pyre”, begins with a simple melody and unfolds in a slow, hypnotic crawl. The release date fits perfectly: Beltane is the Gaelic spring festival held on the night before May 1.

Similarly symbolic is “Beacon”, one of the most compact tracks, again circling around the theme of a flame in the night. Thick, melancholic sound layers are woven throughout.

The third track, “The Huntress”, serves as the closer — a mid‑tempo invocation of a mythological huntress that rounds out the EP with force.

If all that symbolism feels like too much, you can simply relax and enjoy the excellent music.
