Riot City sind berühmt für Vollgaskonzerte der feinsten Gangart. Heavy Metal lebt in ihrer Performance, ihrer Musik und im Stil ihres Auftritts. Cales Gitarre, der treibende Bass von Dustin Smith, das Drum-Animal Jake und Jordans Gesang sind die Zutaten, die Riot City zu einer musikalischen Macht machen. Diesmal war Roldan Reimer nicht mit von der Partie – für ihn stand Aidan Desmarais an der Gitarre, der sich nahtlos in das Gefüge einfügte.

Dass die Kanadier nach ihren bisherigen Gastspielen wieder den Weg nach Stuttgart fanden, ist für die hiesige Szene ein echter Glücksfall. Das Konzert im Schwarzen Keiler war wenig überraschend schnell ausverkauft. Den Abend eröffneten die Jungs von Aquilla, die das Publikum im bereits gut gefüllten Keiler gut auf Betriebstemperatur brachten.

Als Riot City die Bühne betraten, herrschten im Keiler gewohnt subtropische Temperaturen und hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit. Wer Iron Maiden mag, der muss Riot City lieben: Die Band schonte das Publikum von der ersten Sekunde an nicht. Mit Warrior of Time und Livin’ Fast stieg die Band direkt auf dem Gaspedal ein. Es gab keine Sekunde der Stille – eineinhalb Stunden lang hörte man die Gitarren, das Schlagzeug und die Riot-City-Rufe aus den Reihen der absolut frenetischen Zuschauer.

Jordan überzeugte allein mit seiner Bühnenpräsenz und hielt den Kontakt zum Publikum. Sein Gesang ist überragend. So wie er die Stimme in den Höhen kann, so macht das kaum einer im Genre nach. Cale und Aidan an den Gitarren ergänzten sich hervorragend, während Dustin am Bass immer wieder zeigt, dass er neben Jake die Rhythmusmaschine der Band ist. Ganz der Aktualität geschuldet trägt Dustin auch ein TRIUMPHER Shirt, da er erst im Juli verkündet hatte bei der Band einzusteigen. Wer gesehen hat, dass Jake mit bandagiertem Fuss auf die Bühne kam, konnte es kaum glauben, dass er so mächtig Druck machen konnte – nach dem Gig wurde er beim Abgang von der Bühne gestützt!

Die überlange Setlist ließ keine Wünsche offen und bediente die Alben der Band – allen voran das 2022er Werk Electric Elite (No Remorse Records). Kracher wie The Hunter, Steel Rider, Beyond the Stars, Burn the Night, Tyrant und Eye of the Jaguar zeigten, dass die Band auch mit neuem Line-up eine eingespielte Einheit bildet.

Mit Severed Ties spielten sie wieder eine ihrer stärksten Nummern mit gewohnter Hingabe an den Instrumenten. Über 329, In the Dark und Ghost of Reality steuerte der Auftritt auf sein gewohntes Finale zu. Beendet wurde das Konzert schließlich mit Grim Reapers See You in Hell. Der Song riss noch einmal alle mit: Frenetisches Singen und Feiern im Keiler.

Bei See you in Hell sang auch Captain Paradox von Aquila mit Jordan und Johnny „Amon“ Kröner von AXETASY/ Stormwitch spielte am BASS (!) unter Aufsicht vom singenden Dustin mit – was ein Abriss!

Am Ende bleibt zu sagen: Alles erreicht. Alle Zuschauer waren schweißgebadet, überglücklich und gingen nach dem Gig vor die Tür oder an den Tresen, um mit der Band zu sprechen, Merch zu kaufen und den Abend ausklingen zu lassen. Riot City are famous for full-throttle concerts of the highest caliber. Heavy metal lives in their performance, their music, and their stage presence. Cale’s guitar, Dustin Smith’s driving bass, Jake—the animal on drums—and Jordan’s vocals are the ingredients that make Riot City a musical powerhouse. This time around, Roldan Reimer was not part of the lineup; replacing him on guitar was Aidan Desmarais, who fit seamlessly into the fold.

The fact that the Canadians found their way back to Stuttgart after their previous guest appearances is a true stroke of luck for the local scene. Unsurprisingly, the concert at Der Schwarze Keiler sold out quickly. The night was kicked off by the guys from Aquila, who did a great job bringing the crowd in the already well-filled venue up to operating temperature.

When Riot City hit the stage, the climate inside the Keiler was typically subtropical, with soaring humidity. If you like Iron Maiden, you bound to love Riot City: the band showed no mercy to the audience from the very first second. Opening at full speed with Warrior of Time and Livin’ Fast, there wasn’t a single second of silence. For an hour and a half, the air was filled with roaring guitars, pounding drums, and chants of „Riot City“ from the completely frenetic crowd.

Jordan captivated the room through his sheer stage presence and constant contact with the audience. His vocals are outstanding—few in the genre can command high notes the way he does. Cale and Aidan complemented each other brilliantly on guitars, while Dustin on bass repeatedly proved that he and Jake form the rhythm engine of the band. Staying current, Dustin wore a TRIUMPHER t-shirt, having only announced in July that he was joining the band. Anyone who noticed Jake stepping onto the stage with a bandaged foot could hardly believe the immense power he brought to the kit—after the gig, he had to be supported while leaving the stage!

The extended setlist left nothing to be desired, drawing heavily from the band’s discography—most notably their 2022 release Electric Elite (No Remorse Records). Bangers like The Hunter, Steel Rider, Beyond the Stars, Burn the Night, Tyrant, and Eye of the Jaguar proved that the band remains a tightly knit unit, even with a new lineup.

With Severed Ties, they played one of their strongest tracks once again, delivered with their signature dedication. Heading through 329, In the Dark, and Ghost of Reality, the show surged toward its climax. The concert finally concluded with Grim Reaper’s See You in Hell. The song brought down the house one last time, sparking frenzied sing-alongs and celebrations throughout the venue.

During See You in Hell, Captain Paradox from Aquila joined Jordan on vocals, and Johnny „Amon“ Kröner from AXETASY/Stormwitch took over on BASS (!) under the watchful eye of a singing Dustin—what an absolute riot!

In the end, it’s safe to say: mission accomplished. Every single person in the crowd was drenched in sweat, overjoyed, and headed outside or to the bar after the gig to chat with the band, buy merch, and wind down the night.
