English Version: 🇺🇸 Haunt – Headliner of the Hearts
Over the past 10 years, Haunt have managed to carve out a distinct place for themselves in US heavy metal. Like few other bands, they manage to stay remarkably productive, consistently releasing wonderful records filled with absolute gems. Following their 2025 album Ignite, their latest release, Setting Course, dropped on October 2nd via Church’s own label, Church Recordings Inc.
With just 8 tracks, it is a slightly shorter album from mastermind Trevor Church. Teaming up with Hitten, Haunt showcased this new record and their magnum opus on a European tour. Naturally, in southern Germany, Der Schwarze Keiler was once again on the tour itinerary. Looking at the fans and their shirts, it was immediately clear that Haunt was the band most of the crowd had come to see—Haunt were the headliners of the heart. Unfortunately, on Sunday, October 18, 2026, there were only 9 tracks on the setlist—perhaps understandable after 12 consecutive shows across 5 countries, from Spain to Poland, that the tank was running a little low. Even so, Sam, Trevor, Andrew, and Fili Bibiano (Fortress / Intrance) went full throttle and took Der Schwarze Keiler by storm once again. The blend of deeply emotional songs, raw power, and Trevor and Sam’s brilliant stage presence guaranteed an ecstatic crowd in the sold-out venue. Stuttgart – Rock City – loves Haunt and heavy metal!
8 of the 9 songs came from different albums—only Mind Freeze was represented twice. Setting Course didn’t get quite the spotlight it deserved—which is a shame, as tracks like the critical „Like Whispers,“ „Shadow Within,“ or „Ignite“ from last year’s record would have enriched the setlist. Before anyone complains, though: Trevor hinted that after a brief paternity break, he will return to Stuttgart by 2028 at the latest. The guys love playing at the Keiler, a venue that truly knows how to pull off first-class productions.
